Professional background
Perioperative nursing leadership combined with hospital commercial and project experience
Emily Leckie is based in Sydney and brings more than 20 years of nursing and management experience in hospitals, including direct responsibility for the operational performance of operating theatres.
As Nurse Unit Manager of Operating Theatres at Kareena Private Hospital, Emily led a team of 52 nursing staff across anaesthetics, recovery and scrub/scout roles. That role included implementing policies and procedures within a Ramsay Health Care facility, managing departmental profit and loss, and delivering the furniture, fittings and equipment program for the commissioning of two new operating theatres.
From 2014 Emily moved into clinical consulting, account management and capital project roles across NSW and ACT hospitals - first with Welch Allyn / Hill-Rom as Account Manager and Clinical Consultant across a territory of approximately 10,000 hospital beds, then as Senior Clinical Applications Specialist – Anaesthesia ANZ and subsequently Sales Team Leader NSW/ACT, leading a team of four.
That work covered operating theatre, ICU, NICU and hospital-wide patient monitoring and IT portfolios, project management of hospital redevelopments, tender and proposal submissions, and engagement with clinical leaders, Directors of Nursing, executives and procurement bodies at CEO and CFO level.
Hospital redevelopment and capital project experience includes work with the St George and Sutherland Hospital redevelopments and the Randwick Campus and Sydney Children’s Hospital projects, alongside competency-based in-service training for nursing, medical, biomedical and IT staff delivered one-to-one, in classrooms and in theatre-based sessions.
